Teaching manual skills

The teaching of the handicrafts line at Riihimäki Art School has ended for children and young people. The Riihimäki Education and Welfare Board decided at its meeting on 4.6 June 2025 to abandon the handicrafts line as of 1.8 August. The handicrafts groups for the academic year 2025-2026 were planned before the decision and they are included in the joint study guide publication of the community college and the art school. Those who participated in the handicrafts teaching have been informed of the situation and the handicrafts groups have been removed from the online store.

The adult basic art education handicraft group will continue its activities. Basic art education offers the opportunity for goal-oriented study of handicrafts under the guidance of experts. The aim is to develop the student's expressive abilities and mastery of materials and techniques. The studies can also be utilized as continuing vocational training to support work or as a bridge to vocational studies.
