Music play school

The earliest music education is intended for the youngest in the family. We offer many groups for children of different ages. Riihimäki music school cooperates with several day care centers, and some of our approximately forty groups meet in them. You can find meeting times and registration status From Eepos.

Muskari's tuition fee is 130 euros. You can find more detailed music school tuition fees From the Tuition fees page.

Groups in the academic year 2023–2024

The first two weeks of the semester are a trial period, when it is still possible to cancel the music play school place for free. You can cancel your place by contacting the music school office at musikkiopisto@riihimaki.fi. For a place canceled in the middle of the semester, the tuition fee will be charged in full.

Lesson descriptions of music play school and music coaching

What is done in music play school? How can I choose the right group for my child? Check out the groups' lesson descriptions.

  • In family groups, you get to know music in a variety of ways, e.g. by spinning, singing, lo, dancing and moving, and of course playing and tasting maracas and other rhythm instruments. As the children grow up and become independent, an increasing part of the muscari efforts are done by themselves. In the music lessons, you get to know both new and more traditional children's songs and rhymes, which you can sing with your child at home as well.

Muskari activity also strengthens the relationship between parent and child. Muskari family groups are attended together with an adult.

The lesson is 45 minutes long.

  • In Muskari, the basic concepts of music are practiced with the help of different musical ways of working, such as moving, singing, playing and listening, and learning to work in a group. Through different songs and rhymes, all traditional rhythm instruments become familiar, playing in the basic beat and word rhythm, and, among other things, accompanying your own song with xylophone pieces. Various musical exercises, coloring pictures related to the themes of songs and listening to music are also part of muscari's activities.

You can sign up for 3-5 year olds organized in daycare centers, for example
    wouldn't be in kindergarten.

In the muscari group for 3-5 year olds, the child participates without an adult. Note! At the beginning of the autumn semester, it is good for an adult to be prepared to be available during the music lesson, because sometimes coming to the music lesson alone can be exciting for a small musician.

The lesson is 45 minutes long.

  • In Eskari-age music groups, skills that have already been learned are reinforced, such as playing in the basic beat and learning to recognize different rhythms and notes, among other things.

The lessons also introduce the basics of playing the kantele and the ukulele, as well as playing body instruments and other rhythm instruments.

The lesson is 60 minutes long.

  • Teatermuskari is a group of theater musicians for 5-year-olds, which combines musical and theatrical expression work methods. In the class, among other things, we sing, play music and have adventures in the world of drama, as well as practice working in a group. Teatermuskari is implemented in cooperation with Riihimäki Youth Theatre.

The lesson is 60 minutes long.

  • Instrumental groups are music groups aimed at preschoolers and first graders, where the emphasis is on playing the ukulele. In addition to playing, lessons include singing, moving, listening and playing. About 20–30 minutes of the class are spent with the instrument. Lessons will also include playing lessons!

If you are still not sure whether the ukulele is the instrument that interests your child, we recommend first coming to the 6-year-old music group for a year, where you can get to know the basics of the instrument.

You need your own ukulele for the musical group. You will receive additional information about purchasing the instrument by email before the start of the lesson.

The lesson is 60 minutes long.

Ukulele I and Ukulele II groups

Ukulele advanced groups are intended for more advanced players. In addition to playing the ukulele, the lessons teach, among other things, musical concepts functionally. You are also welcome to join as an enthusiastic and motivated beginner. Please ask the teacher for advice on choosing a group!

    Ukulele I

The Ukulele I group is aimed primarily at those who have participated in the ukulele music festival,
but you can also join as an enthusiastic and motivated beginner!
In the ukulele group, practice is goal-oriented, so you are motivated
    caller!

    Ukulele II

The Ukulele II group is intended for players who already have more experience playing the ukulele. The group practices, among other things, chord control and different accompaniment styles.

The ukulele extension groups are 45 minutes long.

  • Music coaching is organized for 7-11-year-olds on Tuesdays from 16:17 to XNUMX:XNUMX.

In music coaching, we play, sing and move together with friends. The lessons include playing the ukulele, kantel, drum and other percussion instruments, such as xylophones, glockenspiel and bass and soprano pieces.

During the academic year, we get to know different musical instruments and the basic concepts of music. You can sign up for the group if you want to make music together, or if, for example, your choice of instrument has not yet been confirmed.
