Hometown Path
The city of Riihimäki and the Riihimäki-Seura together with their partners have completed a project of putting together Riihimäki's first Hometown Path. The walking path introduces you to interesting places in the city center.
Riihimäki's Hometown Path has 37 destinations, whose perspectives are the city's history, nature, culture, architecture and interesting people. The route is about six kilometres long. It consists of three loops, which can also be walked separately.
Get to know your home grounds by foot
The purpose of the Hometown Path is especially to promote the settling in of new residents, but the paths are also perfectly suitable for all other interested people: for tourists, for educational use in schools, as a program for workplace recreation days, etc.
The Hometown Path and the introductory texts have been compiled and delivered by project manager Pauli Saloranta with the help of versatile literature and experts from various fields. Saloranta has already put together a total of 38 hometown paths and three home region paths with a total length of 205 kilometers in the capital region.
The Hometown path brochure is available from, among other places, the library, the museums and the Information Center. The brochure was published in 2009. The implementation of the Hometown Path project has been supported by Riihimäki parish and Riihimäen Seudun Osuuspankki.
