In Finland, you can still experience untouched nature, the value of which, especially for people in the population centers, cannot be easily measured. The natural products of the bogs, game and berries, are also of great importance.

The Hatlam marsh is used for recreation in a variety of ways throughout the year. There are two outdoor huts near the swamp, and a dense network of outdoor trails criss-crosses the area. In winter, skiers move around the marsh. There are also plenty of berry pickers and nature enthusiasts. The bog is also used diligently as an object of nature education in schools.

The most valuable berries in the bogs are cloudberry and cranberry. Other marsh berries are crowberry and gorse. Blueberry and lingonberry can also be found on the peat substrate, although their main places of growth are on mineral soils.

In addition to berries, some kihoki leaves are also collected from Finnish marshes as raw material for foreign pharmaceutical factories.
