Birds of Hatlamminsuo
Hatlamminsuo is a regionally important bird marsh. 41 breeding bird species have been observed in Hatlamminsu.
Hatlamminsu's birdlife consists of typical southern Inner Finland species. The most common breeding species are the meadow hornet, the willow bird, the red-winged thrush and the thrush.
The typical marsh duck Tavi also nests in Hatlamminsuo. Other species nesting in the marsh in smaller numbers are e.g. sky ibex, forest vulture and liro. Observations have also been made of the nutcracker in the swamp.
Hatlamminsuo is important as a place where teals play, and in the mornings of spring and winter, you can hear the babbling and hissing of teals from the marsh. In addition, Hatlamminsuo is an important resting place for waterfowl and cranes in the spring. On the other hand, the pine cones of the edge ridges, where we are now, are important feeding areas for pine woodpeckers.
