Hatlamminsuo

Hatlamminsuo is Riihimäki's single most valuable natural site. The eastern part of the swamp is located on the Hausjärvi municipality side.

The nature conservation value of Hatlamminsu is based on many different types of marsh vegetation, of which there are several dozen. Hatlamminsuo's value is also increased by its location right next to the urban agglomeration of Riihimäki.

The main part of Hatlamminsuo has been preserved almost in its natural state. The surface area of the bog is approx. 60 hectares, of which no less than 47 hectares are undrained. In order to preserve the natural state of the bog, it is important that the water conditions and the trees remain unchanged, drainage and logging operations are no longer carried out in the bog.

82,6 hectares of Hatlamminsuo and the Hatlamminmäki area are managed by Metsähallitus' nature services. The area is not part of the national protection program areas or the Natura 2000 network of protected areas. Instead, the area has a conservation reservation in the provincial plan and a nature reserve will be established in the area.
