Block Concerts

The call for performers for the 2025 Block Concerts opens on February 3, 2025!

The City of Riihimäki produced Block Concerts are organized in various districts of Riihimäki from June to August. The venue can be a store parking lot, a park area or the courtyard of an apartment building. We are mainly looking for musicians from the Riihimäki area to perform at the Block Concerts: bands, dance orchestras, choirs, troubadours, brass bands or other ensembles.

What is a Block Concert?

The block concerts offer musical experiences to people's everyday lives where they live, and at the same time, the block concerts enliven the cityscape and contribute to the implementation of the Cultural Wellbeing Plan of the City of Riihimäki. The content of the block concerts is aimed at producing in such a way that they serve as many target groups and music tastes as possible. The performers at the concerts are mainly local music professionals and enthusiasts, and at the same time regional expertise is raised.

All musical styles are welcome.

Technique

The concerts are carried out independently, with Cultural and Event Services ensuring that electricity is available at the venue if necessary, but otherwise the performer takes care of the necessary technology and equipment on site. It is also possible to borrow a canopy from Cultural Services, for example in the event of rain. We also take care of the necessary permits.

How do you apply for the Block Concerts?

The performers for the block gigs are mainly sought through an open application, so anyone can register to be a performer for the gigs. There will be 8 block gigs organized between June and August, for which we will select four performers, each of whom will do two block gigs, on two different days. The length of one gig is approximately 45 minutes. The gigs will take place on Thursdays at 17 pm, the first block gig will be on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

The application period for the concerts is February 3rd – 28th, 2025. Send an email to kulttuuri@riihimaki.fi and put the subject of the email as Korttelikeikat 2025 performer search. Your gig offer must include the following: Name of the performer/band, genre of music and your request for performance fee, which includes two performances and possible travel and other expenses. In addition, you can, for example, include a request for performance time or other relevant things.
Note! We only consider gig offers made according to the instructions.

Vote for the best concert venue in Riihimäki

City residents can vote for the neighborhoods for the Block Concerts and suggest a venue. The performers will be notified of the concert venues after the voting is over. Suggest a suitable neighborhood and venue via the link with this form.

You can submit suggestions for suitable concert venues until February 28, 2025.
