Block Concerts

The call for performers for the 2026 Block Concerts opens on February 1, 2026!

The City of Riihimäki produced Block Concerts are organized in various districts of Riihimäki from June to August. The venue can be a store parking lot, a park area or the courtyard of an apartment building. We are mainly looking for musicians from the Riihimäki area to perform at the Block Concerts: bands, dance orchestras, choirs, troubadours, brass bands or other ensembles.

What is a Block Gig? 
The block gigs offer musical experiences to people's everyday lives where they live, and at the same time, the block gigs enliven the cityscape and contribute to the implementation of the Cultural Wellbeing Plan of the City of Riihimäki. The content of the block gigs is aimed at producing in such a way that they serve as many target groups and music tastes as possible. The performers at the gigs are mainly local music professionals and enthusiasts, and at the same time regional expertise is raised.

Music styles
All musical styles are welcome.

Technique 
The gigs are carried out independently, with Cultural and Event Services ensuring that electricity is available at the venue if necessary, but otherwise the performer is responsible for providing the necessary technology and equipment themselves. It is possible to borrow a canopy and underlay from Cultural Services. We also take care of the necessary permits.

How do you apply for the Block Gigs? 
The performers for the block gigs are mainly sought through an open application, so anyone can register to be a performer. There will be 8 block gigs organized between June and August, for which we will select eight performers, each of whom will perform one Block Gig. The length of one gig is approximately 45 minutes. The gigs will take place on Thursdays at 18 pm, the first Block Gig will be on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

The application period for the Korttelikeikat is February 1–28, 2026. Send an email to kulttuuri@riihimaki.fi and put the subject of the email: Korttelikeikat 2026 performer search.
Your gig offer must include at least the following:

The name of the performer/band, the genre of music and your request for a performance fee, which includes the performance itself and any travel and other expenses. Attach a video or link to a music service or similar that presents the musical style of your band to the application. You can also, for example, include a request for a performance date or other relevant matters.
Note! We only consider gig offers made according to the instructions.

Vote for the best gig venue in Riihimäki 
City residents can vote for the neighborhoods of the Block Concerts and suggest a venue. Performers will be notified of the concert locations after the voting is over. Suggest a suitable neighborhood and/or venue Suggest a Block Gig Venue form.
You can submit suggestions for suitable gig venues until February 28, 2026.
