Riihimäki culture recognition awards

The Titi-nallet theater group has been selected as the recipient of the cultural act of the year 2024 recognition award

The Riihimäki Youth Theatre's Titi-nallet group has been chosen as the recipient of the Cultural Act of the Year 2024 recognition award. The value of the prize is 1000 euros. Riihimäki's vitality committee decided on the selection at its meeting on Thursday, December 12.

The choice was made based on suggestions from the townspeople. Citizens were asked for suggestions from 11.9 September to 30.11.2024 November XNUMX.

Theater group for young adults with developmental disabilities
Titi-nallet is a theater group of eight young adults with developmental disabilities. The members of the group have studied acting for 15 years. They are the first people with disabilities to complete extensive basic education in theater arts in Finland.

"The activities of the Titi-nallet group are nationally significant, as they have paved the way for a more equal cultural field for people with developmental disabilities," says responsible cultural producer Lyti Aaltonen.

The cultural act of the year recognition award was given for the first time

The cultural act of the year recognition award was awarded for the first time. Two previous awards in the cultural sector, the Young Artist of the Year and the Culture of the Year Recognition Award, were now combined for the first time into the Culture Act of the Year recognition award.

The change was good in terms of receiving proposals. We received considerably more proposals than in previous years. A total of 123 proposals came from the townspeople, of which 51 met the criteria for the recognition award. There were proposals for a total of 23 different candidates.

The purpose of the award is to take into account cultural actors and actions that have earned merit in Riihimäki, and to make visible local creative skills.

An award ceremony open to everyone will be held on February 5.2.2025, XNUMX at Antoni's house.

In previous years, the Riihimäkeläinen young artist of the year recognition award and the Culture recognition award have been given, the recipients of which you can see below.
