Health protection

The task of health protection is to monitor the health of apartments and other public living spaces. Public lounges include gathering and accommodation apartments, sports facilities, schools, kindergartens, nursing homes or similar institutions, swimming pools, beaches and beauty salons. Duties also include monitoring the quality of domestic and bathing water and swimming pool water.

The operator must make a written notification to the health protection authorities also about the establishment or introduction of such an activity that may cause health harm to customers or residents.

The objective of the Health Protection Act 763/1994 is to promote and maintain the health of the population and the individual, as well as to prevent, reduce and eliminate such factors in the environment that may cause danger or damage to human health.

Activities that must be notified before starting activities

The operator must make a written notification to the municipality's health protection authority no later than 30 days before starting the following activities:

• public accommodation apartment
• gymnasium and other sports facilities open to the public, sauna, spa, indoor swimming pool, swimming pool and beach
• school or educational institution, teaching organization and club
• day care, children's or old people's home
• reception center
• solarium, tattoo parlor, beauty parlor or other apartment where skin treatment or care is practiced
• other similar facilities or apartments where the activities carried out may cause harm to health, taking into account the number of users and the nature of the activity
• from a facility supplying domestic water that does not have its own water intake or water treatment
• use of domestic water as part of public or commercial activities (operator is not a facility supplying domestic water)
• shared water intake or water tank (for the needs of at least 50 people or at least 10 cubic meters per day)
