Premises that can be reserved by customers

The library has various spaces that you can reserve for yourself or for the use of an association or other group. Reservations for the premises can be made in the electronic reservation calendar (Riihimaki.asio.fi)., at the library's customer service, by phone or by email. Some of the facilities are free of charge, but in some cases a usage fee is charged for other facilities. Please familiarize yourself with the library's room reservation price list and pricing principles if you are reserving facilities for your use.   • On the ground floor of the library, there is a space called Digipaja, where you can use a powerful media machine, a web camera, a green screen, a photography tripod suitable for mobile phones and cameras, and photography lights.

    In Digipaja, you can, among other things

    • transfer the contents of VHS tapes to DVDs
    • digitize LPs, photos, slides and negatives
    • save Digitized recordings and images to a cloud service, CD, USB memory or your own device
    • edit videos, photos and audio files as well as stream and participate in remote meetings
    • use a green screen fabric as a background for pictures and podcasts

  • The cabinet is located on the ground floor of the library, adjacent to the Alasali. The library's Homeland Collection is placed in the cabinet. The cabinet can be reserved for use by groups and associations, among other things.

  • The multipurpose room is located on the ground floor of the library. This space can be reserved for use by groups and associations, among other things. The space is also used for the library's own events. The Riihimäki War Veterans and Lottas heritage exhibition has been placed in the multipurpose space.

    • Meeting and group space on the 1st floor, surface area 51 m².
    • 86" touch screen, soundbar, tables and chairs.
    • Meetings, trainings and small-scale events can be organized in the space.

  • In the music studio located on the second floor of the library, you can make music or record your own music.

    The music studio includes, among other things

    • instruments: piano (Hellas) and digital drums (NUX DM-7X with double pedal)
    • miniature studio: microphones, racks and other equipment

    • You can reserve the space for your use for a maximum of four hours at a time for non-commercial purposes.

  • The library has a Nintendo Switch game console, which is located on the 2nd floor of the library, in the children's and youth department.

  • Samuli Paronen's hall is located on the ground floor of the library and serves as an exhibition and event space. The space is named after the writer Samuli Paronen, who lived in Riihimäki.

    • Exhibition and multifunctional space on the 1st floor, surface area 112 m².
    • Data projector and screen, grand piano and, if necessary, sound reproduction and chairs.
    • Art exhibitions can be organized in the space and the space can be rented for event activities.

  • The library's Fairy Tale Room and Fairy Tale Room are mainly for general library customer use. The Fairy Tale Room is reserved for library use during the library's own fairy tale classes and other events.     • Meeting room on the 2nd floor of the library.
    • The Story room is open according to the library's opening hours.
    • The Fairy Tale Room cannot be reserved for private use.
    • Children and young people can reserve the Satuvintti, which is connected to the Satuhuone, for their use from the library's customer service.
  • The library has a soundproof conference/work space that you can reserve for quiet work or study.

    • The workspace can accommodate a maximum of four people at a time.
    • You can reserve space for 1-3 hours at a time.
    • The workspace is intended mainly for people over 15 years of age and is located in the adult ward.
    •  You need a library card to make a reservation.
    • The workspace has two sofas, a table and an electrical outlet for a computer or phone.
    •  Eat your lunch somewhere else than in this space.
    • Booking space is free of charge.

  • Fixed showcases of the adult section

    • 8 units on the 2nd floor, upper level

    Fixed showcases in the adult section can be reserved for smaller exhibitions and are free of charge. Showcase exhibitions change every month.

  • Payments for the library space rents have been processed and approved by Riihimäki city's Board of Culture and Welfare.

    • Use of the library is free of charge
    • The reservation of the library's premises may be subject to a fee for companies and individuals
    • The use of the library's group space is free of charge when the purpose of the use is mainly Riihimäkä organization-related or civic activities based on open participation, i.e. the use of the facilities is free for Riihimäkä associations (except if a fee is charged for the event)
    • If an association or community organizes an open and free activity or event, space rent is not charged
    • One-time bookings maximum charge 10 hours/day
    • The minimum billable amount is €10
    • Unused non-cancellable reservations are charged according to the price
    • If the reservation is canceled two weeks before the event or earlier, there is no charge for the reservation
    • If the rental incurs additional organizational or other costs (e.g. setting up chairs) or property is broken or otherwise damaged during the rental, the costs will be charged to the renter
    • For paid space reservations, a rental agreement is drawn up between the subscriber and the library
  • You can rent or reserve facilities from the City of Riihimäki for various purposes. Always familiarize yourself with the reservation terms, instructions and practices of the destination in advance. Some of the facilities you can reserve are subject to a fee and some are free of charge.

    1. Reservation, Reservation period and number of reservations

    • The reserved space and furnishings are available to the booker for the duration of the reservation.
    • Reservation of space requires the provision of contact information of the booker.
    • Initial preparations and possible final cleaning are included in the reserved time. The space must be ready for use by another customer when the booking changes.
    • The booker will receive a booking confirmation in their e-mail when the booking has been accepted.
    • The maximum reservation time for facilities and the maximum number of valid reservations are determined for each facility.
    • The city has the right to change the reservation time or cancel the reservation by notifying the person reserving the space.

    2. Premises, equipment and furniture

    • The maximum number of people marked in the space must not be exceeded.
    • The furniture arrangement may be changed, but the furniture arrangement must be restored to its original form during the reservation period.
    • The instructions for use of the equipment must be read before use and must be followed.
    • The premises must comply with the premises' safety instructions. When leaving, ensure that the doors and windows are closed.
    • Staff must be notified of malfunctioning or broken equipment and other technical problems.

    3. Responsibility and liability for compensation

    • The person booking the space is responsible for using the space and maintaining order.
    • The booker is liable for compensation if the users of the premises cause damage to the property or personal belongings. Any damage must be reported immediately to the contact person for the premises.
    • Any costs incurred for use other than those specified in the reservation (e.g. security, arrangement and cleaning costs) will be invoiced to the person reserving the space.
    • The city is not responsible for any damage caused to customers' own equipment or tools when using the facilities.
    • The city is not responsible for goods left on the premises.

    4. Content and nature of the event

    • The content or nature of the event organized in the reserved space cannot be in conflict with Finnish law or contrary to good practice. The premises are not rented for racist or discriminatory activities against groups of people, nor for public events of individual parties during the election quarantine. The person reserving the space undertakes to comply with the principles of safer space in force in the space. The organizer of the event appoints a contact person from among them who is responsible for implementing the principles.
    • The use of reserved spaces complies with the Assembly Act (22.4.1999/530) and the instructions issued by the authorities regarding public spaces, as well as the instructions and regulations issued by the police and the rescue service.
    • It is the responsibility of the booker to obtain any necessary permits from the authorities (including safety and rescue plans), if required by the nature of the event and the number of visitors. The booker will familiarize himself with the property and its safety practices at the start of use.
    • If copyrighted material (e.g. a film) is publicly shown in the space, the presenter must have the right to show the material. The age limits for films and other visual programmes based on the Visual Programmes Act (710/2011) must be observed.
    • In principle, an event held in a reserved space must not disturb other activities at the location, customers or users. Public events that cause noise or disturbance are agreed on a case-by-case basis with the owner of the space and, if necessary, the authorities.

    5. Cancellation terms

    • Cancellation periods for reservations are specific to the property. Please check the cancellation period in the details of the property you are booking. No refunds will be made for reservations that are not cancelled.
    • A cancellation or change request is considered to have occurred at the time the information is received by the city.

    6. Resolution of disputes

    • Any disagreements arising during the contract will always be resolved primarily through mutual negotiations. If no agreement is reached during the negotiations, the matter will be submitted to the district court for resolution in accordance with Finnish law.
