The Library Act (1492/2016) also generally defines the event activities of libraries. The starting points for realizing the goal of the Library Act are community spirit, pluralism and cultural diversity. Riihimäki City Library's events are also guided by topicality and locality. Priority is given to public benefit, non-commercial events. Event activities are coordinated by the event team.

The library actively organizes a wide variety of events, from story classes to author visits and other public events. In addition, the library offers gathering spaces for association and hobby activities. It also organizes events outside the library and, whenever possible, participates in events organized by other parties.

The library also organizes events based on customer wishes. The event you propose can be, for example, an author's visit, a lecture, a concert or a workshop. The events are chosen by the library based on the proposals and are held during the library's opening hours.

If you act as a contact person for the event, please remember to provide your contact information as well. If you don't know the organizer of the event, you can only suggest the subject of the event. The event can be one-off or recurring. The library does not charge space rent for events that it itself actively participates in organizing.

Suggest an event to the library

You can also request the library facilities for your own use, for example for a meeting, workshop, lecture or concert. Events are selected by the library based on suggestions.

Please note that when you organize the event yourself, you are primarily responsible for the practical arrangements and information. The possible space rent is determined based on the space and reservation time. You can use the reserved space during the library's opening hours. The reservation can be one-time or recurring.
