Services offered to school classes

The Library participates in the Riihimäki City Culture Path and therefore we offer following services:

  • First time for pre-schoolers / library visit in fall or spring / 1 h
    • A playful introduction to library services
  • 3rd grade / library visit in fall or spring / 1,5 h
    • Book advice and library use teaching about non-fiction
  • 8th grade / library visit in fall or spring / 1,5 h
    • Genre advice for young people's literature

These include orders and contacts for library services for children and young people. (Contact information at the bottom of the page)

  • 6th – 9th grades / 1 h
    • Information retrieval advice in the adult section

Informatics specialist Laura Kuula is responsible for middle school information search teaching. (Contact information at the bottom of the page) You can also ask him about advice for 9th graders about books for adults.

Please make an appointment for your own class in time.

The teacher can also order a book package containing books for children and young adults for his class:

  • Two-bag book package with a three-month loan period for grades 1-8 / 1 bag order / academic year
  • The book package for classes 1-5 can be either a basic package or a reading diploma package (3 bags)

Book packages are borrowed with the teacher's community card.

With it, books from library visits are also borrowed for the class. The community card is obtained from the library's customer service by presenting a photo ID.

The book package can be ordered either in autumn or spring. The reading diploma package must be ordered by mid-January! Operating instructions are included. The reading diploma book lists can also be seen on our website. The children and youth department collects the book packages in order of booking; normal delivery time is a week; in peak periods it may take longer. The city's contracted courier will deliver the packages to the school and through that the bags can also be returned. The sender's contact information comes with the bag.

Self-service visits for borrowing

Classes can visit the library on their own on weekdays from 9 am. To avoid overcrowding, we ask for advance registration!
