On this page you will find the services offered by Riihimäki Library for schools.

Services offered to school classes:

Cultural trail:

The Library participates in the Riihimäki City Culture Path and therefore we offer following services:

  • First time for Eskari / library visit in autumn or spring / 1 hour
    • A functional introduction to library services
  • 3th grade / library visit in the fall or spring / 1,5 hours
    • Book recommendations and library use instruction on children's fiction
  • 8th grade / library visit in the fall or spring / 1,5 hours
    • Genre advice for young people's literature

Preschool and 3rd grade visits are booked via the ARX Cultural Center link.

Order a book package for your class!

  • Video tip package for 4th and 5th grades.
    • A teacher can order a video tip and a related book package for their class.
  • Two-bag book package for grades 1–3
    • Literature according to the class's wishes with a 3-month loan period / 1 box order / academic year

Book packages and books for library visits to classes are borrowed with the teacher's community library card. The card can be obtained immediately from the library's customer service, as long as you bring a photo ID.

The package can be ordered in the fall or spring. They are collected in the order they are ordered; the delivery time is a couple of weeks. The city courier delivers the packages to the school. The teacher can order return transportation from the courier by text message. The courier's phone number is included in the loan receipt with the book package.

Escape game and information retrieval teaching for middle schools!

  • 6th grade / Escape game / 1 hour
  • 6th – 9th grades / 1 hour
    • Information retrieval teaching in the adult department
  • 9th grade / Digital quiz / 45 minutes
    • Through quizzes, students learn about the library's collections and learn information retrieval and other digital skills.
  • 9th grade / Tipping / 1 hour
    • Book recommendations for adult fiction.

Self-service visits for borrowing

Classes can visit the library independently on weekdays starting at 9 a.m. Customer service starts at 11 a.m., but the staff of the children's and youth department will serve classes even before that, if possible.
