Riihimäki Library offers various levels of digital guidance, and we have made a service promise for these services. We will guide you in the basic use of library equipment and software, in using our online services and in information retrieval without making an appointment. In addition, you can book time with us for digital coaching, information retrieval coaching or basic digitization guidance. Read more about digital guidance and digital coaching on the library's Digital Guidance page.
The Books Home service of Riihimäki City Library is intended for those who cannot come to the library themselves due to old age, illness or disability. The Books Home service is completely free of charge.
Before starting the service, we will ask about your reading preferences and conclude a service agreement. It is also possible to conclude a service agreement on a temporary basis, for example during illness.
In the Books to Home service, we collect materials for you in a bag every 6 weeks according to your wishes and interests. The bag will be picked up by a person you authorize or it can be delivered to your home. You can authorize a specific person to bring the finished book bag to your home. The person can be a loved one, an acquaintance, or a person from the City of Riihimäki's volunteer activities. The library staff will take care of the due dates for your materials.
You can invite the book tipsters from Riihimäki City Library to talk about literature on a topic of your choice at your association or community gathering. Most often, they recommend fiction, but the topic can be limited to, for example, new releases or detective stories.
The reminiscence sessions offered by Riihimäki City Library are intended for communities and associations from Riihimäki. Reminiscence bags are suitcases that contain information and objects on various themes from the 1950s and 1960s. They allow you to reminisce about past decades together or learn something new from them. You can touch and examine the objects. The bag also contains a reminiscence notebook where you can write your own memories or thoughts on the topics.
