The Riihimaki.fi website uses Google Translate.
On this page, you can find the services we offer to the elderly, which include, among other things, the Books to home service, reading circles and Celia's services for people with reading disabilities. The library's digital coaching is also for the elderly - you can find information about the service by clicking from here.
Riihimäki city library's Books to home service is intended for those of you who cannot come to the library yourself due to old age, illness or disability.
The books to home service is a completely free service. Before starting the service, we ask about your reading preferences and make a service contract.
It is also possible to enter into a service contract on a temporary basis, for example during illness. You have access to all the library's material. The material is delivered to your home every 6 weeks and the library staff takes care of the due dates of your material.
If you wish, you can have a book bag assembled according to your wishes. The book bag will be delivered by a person you have authorized.
You can contact the library regarding the books home service. Heidi Rönn is responsible for the service (contact information at the bottom of the page).
In the volunteer center Virsu, the reading circle has been meeting since autumn 2009. Every month, a dozen enthusiastic district residents gather to share their reading experiences. From autumn 2021, Virsu's reading circle will meet in Riksula, at the address Eteläinen Asemakatu 2.
Celia is a special library that produces and distributes audiobooks for people with reading disabilities.
You can register as Celia's customer in the library if you have a reading disability.
