On this page you will find information about the services that Riihimäki Library offers to seniors. Some of the services are personal, but some are also intended for groups and associations. Please feel free to contact us if you need our services or would like to have a tip or reminiscence session for your group. You can find contact information at the bottom of the page.
Riihimäki Library offers various levels of digital guidance, and we have made a service promise for these services. We will guide you in the basic use of library equipment and software, in using our online services and in information retrieval without making an appointment. In addition, you can book time with us for digital coaching, information retrieval coaching or basic digitization guidance. Read more about digital guidance and digital coaching on the library's Digital Guidance page.
The Books Home service of Riihimäki City Library is intended for those who cannot come to the library themselves due to old age, illness or disability. The Books Home service is completely free of charge.
Before starting the service, we will ask about your reading preferences and conclude a service agreement. It is also possible to conclude a service agreement on a temporary basis, for example during illness.
In the Books at Home service, we collect materials for you in a bag every 6 weeks according to your wishes and interests. The bag will be collected by a person you authorize or it can be delivered to your home. Library staff will take care of the due dates of your materials.
You can invite the book tipsters at Riihimäki City Library to talk about literature on a topic of your choice at your association or community gathering. Most often, they recommend fiction, but the topic can be limited to, for example, new releases, detective stories or historical novels.
The reminiscence sessions offered by Riihimäki City Library are intended for senior citizens' communities and associations in Riihimäki. In the reminiscence session, we use storytelling and props to create a participatory moment that awakens memories and discussion in the listeners. We can bring the topic when we come or agree on it together.
