Automated self-service library

Transactions are completely self-service and there is no age limit for use. To use it, you need a library membership, a Library card and a pin code.

Welcome to Riihimäki library's self-service library customer!

This is how a self-service library works

Read all the points carefully.

  • To use the self-service library, you need a library card and a personal password. You can obtain these by visiting the library service desk during customer service hours and by agreeing to the library's rules of use. The library card is also available to you in an electronic version when you are logged in to the online library. (Ratamo.finna.fi)

Exceeding payments or overdue loans do not prevent access to the facility.

  • Logging in takes place with the reader device next to the front door of the library. Insert your own library card into the reader and key in your password, and the door will unlock. Children can come accompanied by parents without registration.

The automated self-service library is open daily.

We inform customers about the start and end of self-service time with an automatic announcement. Please note that when the library switches to self-service hours after service hours, you must log in with a reader device.

You must leave the library at the latest after the end of self-service time, after which the alarms go on and the lights go off. Please make sure that the front door locks when you come and go.

    Facilities in use

During your free time, you can use the library's materials on the ground floor, the magazine room, group work spaces, a client computer for reading e-magazines, and a wireless network. The upper floor is not available to customers during self-service hours.

    In self-service time, you can

    • borrow and return materials using machines
    • borrow reserved material
    • read newspapers and work.

    Borrowing and returning

The screens of the lending and returning machines guide you in borrowing and returning.

    Reserved material

    • You can find your reservation in the reservation shelf behind the stairs.
    • The reserved material is arranged in numerical order based on the collection number.
    • You can see your own collection number in the e-mail or text message you receive.
    • borrow your reserved material with the self-service automation.

Services that require staff, such as payments of fees, printing, copying and new customer registration, are not available during self-service hours.

The staff guides customers in using the self-service library during service hours.

  • The library card is personal. You log in with your own library card, in which case you are responsible for the people you let in. The library has the right to limit your right to use the self-service library if necessary.

When the library switches to self-service hours after service hours, you must log in with a reader device. We inform customers about the start and end of self-employment time with an automatic announcement.

The library's current rules of use apply when using the self-service library, which are the same as in any other library. Other customers may not be disturbed or the spaces may not be cluttered.

Read the library's rules of use.

  • Access control and recording camera surveillance are used in the library. Going to premises that are not open for automated self-service will cause an alarm. The customer who caused the alarm is responsible for the costs caused by unwarranted alarms.

The access control and camera systems form a customer register, the purpose of which is to guarantee legal protection and safety of customers, protect the subject's property, and prevent and investigate crimes.

    Read the privacy statements.

  • Possible technical problems with computers and machines can only be resolved when the staff is there. If the machines are out of order, borrowing and returning is not possible.
