Environmental communication

The city of Riihimäki strives to increase the environmental awareness and environmental responsibility of its residents and operators. Everyday eco-information is acquired and transmitted with the help of the KERI network coordinated by the city's environmental protection, which is an interactive form of cooperation between the city and associations, clubs, organizations and other communities, as well as city residents. The KERI network brings information about ecological and responsible everyday life within the reach of everyone who wants it. The network belongs to all of us. That way you can get information and share your own news and tips, look for partners or meet and reach out to people interested in an ecological lifestyle. The KERI network is maintained by the city's environmental expert.

The city communicates the state of the environment as well as the changes that have taken place in it and the factors that burden the environment in the State of the Environment report. Reliable, up-to-date and usable environmental information is obtained by monitoring the state of the environment as well as studies and surveys. As needed, the city carries out various nature and environmental studies and monitoring in accordance with the established monitoring programs. The results are announced on the city's website, among other things.

Environmental awareness is also conveyed by providing material supporting environmental education and by cooperating with local actors, among other things Neat Riksu work and Riihimäki's Fair Trade support group through.

  • The climate is changing and biodiversity is dwindling at record speed. Housing, movement, food and the consumption of goods and services are the biggest contributors to an individual's carbon footprint. Each of our actions matter. We can build a sustainable future by choosing responsibly.

Sustainable living has been promoted in Riihimäki for a long time. The last is the Ekoarki work form, which is followed by the KERI network.

The KERI network met on August 12.8. At the meeting, we heard about the KERI project, thought about sustainable choices, and brainstormed what kind of activities that support a sustainable lifestyle are needed in our hometown.
