Travel tickets

With mobile ticket applications, you can buy, among other things, season, series and one-time tickets (you can find more detailed information about ticket products at the bottom of this page). You can buy a mobile ticket at any time before boarding the bus, even while waiting at the bus stop.

Riihimäki has the following mobile ticket applications:

Routes and Tickets (Travel Service)

You can download the mobile ticket app free of charge for Android and iOS phones from app stores.

Buying tickets

• Before buying a ticket, you must choose a payment method (the applications use different payment methods, you can find more detailed information about them a little below)
• Buy a ticket by selecting the desired ticket product in the application
• In some of the ticket products, you can choose the moment when the validity of the ticket starts
  • For other ticket products, the validity period starts immediately from the moment of purchase
  • The validity period is shown on the ticket

Traveling with tickets

• Buy a ticket or use the Tickets application to activate an individual ticket from the series ticket you bought before getting on the bus
• Show the ticket to the driver on your phone screen or show the QR code of the ticket you bought with the Routes and Tickets application to the QR code reader on the bus when you get on the bus
  • If the ticket you bought from the Routes and Tickets application does not show a QR code, show the ticket to the driver

You can pay the one-way ticket to the driver on the bus in cash or with a bank and credit card.

When paying in cash, reserve a balance if possible. There may not always be enough change on the bus.

The sale of ticket products that can be loaded onto Matkahuolto's travel card has ended on June 30.6.2023, 30.6.2023. You can use the ticket loaded on the travel card by June XNUMX, XNUMX until the end of the ticket product's validity in the fall.

Matkahuolto's national value card will continue to be used for travel cards until June 30.6.2024, 1,90, with which you can pay for journeys made on the R transport line (not valid for R rides). A trip made with a value card costs €7 for an adult and €19 for a child/youth (aged 0,90–XNUMX). You can find more information on Matkahuolto's website.

You can buy a one-time ticket either with a mobile ticket application or from the driver with cash or a payment card.

The one-time ticket is valid for 60 minutes. You can make several trips with the same ticket if it is valid when you get on the bus.

You can buy a series ticket with the mobile ticket application.

The series ticket is valid for 180 days.

You can pay for the trip of several people at once with the same series ticket. In this case, the ticket also costs more than one trip. With the Tickets application, you must activate the required number of tickets before boarding the bus. With the Routes and Tickets application, the ticket is read into the QR code reader the required number of times.

A ticket activated with the Tickets application is valid for 60 minutes and you can use it to make more trips if the ticket is valid when you get on the bus. With the Routes and Tickets application, series tickets are currently only valid for one journey at a time for technical reasons, i.e. they do not include the right to change.

You can buy the best price ticket with the Tickets mobile ticket application. The ticket is sold to both adults and children/teenagers (ages 7–19).

The price of the ticket is determined by the number of trips you make. As the name suggests, the ticket guarantees the cheapest price without you having to know in advance how much you will travel.

The best price ticket works for example during 24 hours like this:

• For the first ticket, you pay the same as a standard single ticket
• For the second ticket, you also pay the same as a regular one-time ticket
• When you buy a third ticket, the price of the day ticket becomes full and you therefore only pay 50% of the price of a regular single ticket and your ticket becomes a day ticket
• After this, you can travel with the ticket free of charge for 24 hours from the time of purchase of the first ticket

Accordingly, the ticket also changes to a 30-day season ticket, if you buy the best price tickets within 30 days for an amount equal to the price of the season ticket.

Even if you don't travel so much that the limits mentioned above are met, you won't lose anything, because the best price ticket will always cost no more than the price of a single ticket.

You can buy a day ticket with the mobile ticket application.

The day ticket is valid for 24 hours, during which you can travel an unlimited number of trips.

The season ticket is valid for 30 days, during which you can travel an unlimited number of trips.

Semester ticket

• The autumn semester ticket is valid from the day elementary schools start (in August) until the end of the same year (December 31.12)
• The spring semester ticket is valid from the beginning of the year (January 1.1) until the Sunday of the end of elementary schools (in June)

Academic year ticket

• 110 €
• The academic year ticket is valid from the day elementary schools start (August) until the Sunday of the end of elementary schools (June)

School and student tickets are only sold to elementary school and secondary school students from Riihämäki.

You can buy a school and student ticket with the Routes and Tickets mobile ticket application or as a cardboard display ticket. You can buy a ticket either for the whole school year or for one semester at a time. You can also buy a ticket in the middle of a semester or year.

During its validity, you can travel with a school and student ticket for an unlimited number of trips on weekdays, weekends, holidays and holidays.
Note! However, the ticket does not entitle you to unnecessary round-trip travel.

Buying a mobile ticket

Buy a ticket with Matkahuolto's Routes and Tickets application. Downloading the application is free of charge. You can find more detailed information about the application and how to download it From Matkahuolto's website.

Register for the application with the student or student email address of the school or educational institution. Enter the ticket product-specific code in the application, after which the corresponding ticket product will be displayed. The codes are as follows:

• Primary school student, fall semester: "riihimaki-primary-autumn"
• Elementary school student, spring semester: "riihimaki-primary-spring"
• Primary school student, academic year: "riihimaki-primary-year"
• Second-grade student, fall semester: "riihimaki-second-grade-autumn"
• Second-grade student, spring semester: "riihimaki-second-grade-spring"

The most common payment cards are accepted as a payment method in the application. You can also pay with MobilePay and Apple Pay.

Students of all elementary schools in Riihimäki, as well as students of Riihimäki high school and Hyria can buy mobile tickets. The e-mail addresses of other educational institutions do not work, but they can be added to the system upon request with the consent of the educational institution in question. The request can be sent by email to jookliikenne@riihimaki.fi.

Pupils who have been granted school transport, and whose school transport is organized by public transport, will have a free school ticket displayed in the Routes and Tickets application. In this case too, you have to register for the application with the school's student e-mail address. The ticket is "purchased" in the application in the same way as a paid ticket, after which the ticket is available.

Buying a screening ticket

Buy a ticket From the information center of the city of Riihimäki (Eteläinen Asemakatu 2).

When buying a ticket, you need a photo (passport photo or private photo taken by the school) and one with the stamp of the school or educational institution order form for school and student tickets (academic year 2023–2024). If necessary, you can also get the order form in paper form from the school or the Information Centre.

You do not need an order form when buying a ticket for the spring semester, if you have the entire display ticket from the previous fall semester with you.

You can buy a new ticket to replace a lost or destroyed display ticket (a new photo is required). A fee of 9 euros is charged for renewing the ticket.

The first school day of the school year

Since a student's e-mail address is required to purchase a mobile ticket and a school stamp is required to purchase a display ticket, traveling on R traffic and Riihimäki–Ryttylä regional traffic is free of charge for all school children on the first school day of the school year.

Holder of an EU disability card

• The card is issued by Kela (price €10)
• The card can be obtained, among other things, by persons who have been granted mobility support in accordance with the Social Care Act or transport service in accordance with the Disability Services Act

The bus services in Kanta-Häme and Central and Eastern Uusimaa use seasonal and series ticket products that allow you to travel not only on regular services, but also on regional services. The tickets are also valid for trips outside Riihimäki.

Granted to elementary schools, municipal and private daycare centers and family daycare providers, as well as secondary and higher educational institutions.

The ticket is also valid for the R ride.

The price of one R ride is €1 for those belonging to the discount group.

You can also pay for your trip at the same time you order R-kyyt with the Routes and Tickets application. If you don't want to pay for your trip when ordering, select seat reservation from the Routes and Tickets application.

A disability card or a veteran's ticket must be presented to the driver when boarding the bus.
