Parks and outdoor sports venues

The Hirsimäki sports field was renovated in 2025, and artificial sand turf and a year-round ice rink were installed. In 2026, the field will continue to be renovated, including fencing the area.

The general plan for the Peltosaari park complex was approved in September 2025. Construction planning for the park complex is underway and construction of the park will begin in 2026.

On November 10, 2025, as part of the financial and action plan, the City Council approved project-level funding for municipal technology investments, including the strategic flagship project of Peltosaari Park.

Basic improvement of parks refers to investments made to improve the condition of existing parks and playgrounds.

Basic improvement targets for 2026:

• Hännintie playground
• Landscaping of the playground to be removed from Härkätie
• Renovation of the Bad Segeberg park pond (more information below)

The Bad Segeberg pond located on Peltosaari has a lot of algae in the summer, which also makes the surrounding park area feel uncomfortable.

According to the pond's action recommendation made in 2024, it is important to improve the water circulation of the pond in order to curb eutrophication. This will be implemented by pumping water from the Vantaanjoki River to the northern end of the pond. This will require the construction of a pump well and a pressure pipe in the section between the pond and the river. In addition, a new, higher bottom dam will be built, which will provide more water depth in the pond, which will slow down eutrophication.
