Rent and right-of-occupancy housing

Right-of-occupancy apartments

A right-of-occupancy apartment is an alternative to a rental or owner-occupied apartment. You can get a right-of-occupancy apartment when you invest 15 percent of the purchase price of the apartment as a right-of-occupancy fee. When you give up the apartment, you will get back the original right-of-occupancy fee adjusted by the construction cost index.

Applying for a serial number has changed

With the new Housing Rights Act, you can only apply for the serial number needed to apply for a housing right apartment from the Housing Finance and Development Center ARA. The city issued serial numbers until August 31.8.2023, 31.12.2023, and the serial numbers previously issued by the city have expired on December XNUMX, XNUMX.

With the new serial number, you can apply for a right-of-occupancy apartment nationwide in all municipalities where there are right-of-occupancy apartments. The number costs around 10 euros and is valid for two years. From 1.1.2024 January XNUMX, you can only apply for an apartment with an ARA serial number.

You can find more information about the changes from the ARA website, by e-mail asumisoikeus@ara.fi or by phone 029 525 0990 on Tuesdays from 9 am to 11 am and from Niina Kiviharju, the housing secretary of the city of Riihimäki.
